Game-time became scarce for Nuhiu under previous Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal due to quality acquisitions in the final third. With injuries galore within the Owls squad and since the arrival of Jos Luhukay, Nuhiu has managed to get minutes under his belt and has consequently risen to the occasion in a handful of fixtures since the beginning of January.
Nuhiu has had a hand in nine goals in his previous ten starts for Wednesday in all competitions. This includes six goals and three assists, more than any other player during the new Luhukay reign.
Whilst contracted to Sheffield Wednesday, Gary Hooper will always remain the clubs most natural finisher along with Fernando Forestieri who is also a creative goalscorer. Nuhiu on the other hand remains immobile and has minimal predatory instinct, but, he does offer something different.
Besides Nuhiu’s lack off pace and flair, his strengths include stamina, determination, composure, plus, his technique and aerial ability has shown dramatic signs of improvement this season. Atdhe remains a naturally effective forward despite other areas weakness. You could argue that Nuhiu has attributes at his disposal where other players lacking.
There has always been a divided opinion amongst the Wednesday faithful when discussing Atdhe Nuhiu and he continues to be a hot debate. What are your thoughts in regards to the target man and is he now worthy of a new contract?
